Zion trip | Canyon Overlook Sunrise

Incredible sunrise scenery in Zion National Park!

Sunrise is also very famous in Zion National Park – and Canyon Overlook is the perfect place to watch the sunrise. It’s a fairly easy trail but it can lead you to a stunning view – a great way to open a day in Zion. It is a favorite among photographers and casual tourists alike. The trail itself is short and not particularly steep; elevation gain is somewhere around 100 feet between the parking lot and the viewpoint. The trailhead is initiated by a collection of stone steps that ascend the stone ridge directly above the north side of the road. The trail only took me 15 mins to hike, and on top of it, you will have a decent place to stay and watch the sunrise and the canyon view. As the sun rising up, we saw the mountain gradually turned golden. Although we woke up at 5 am for this, it’s totally worth it.
